Parikh Takes on Role of IITRI QA Manager Life Sciences Chief Receives Tenure from IIT
Parikh Takes on Role of IITRI QA Manager Kirit V. Parikh recently was promoted to manager of IITRI's Quality Assurance Unit (QAU). Parikh has more than 21 years of experience in QA/QC activities, including 19 years as an IITRI employee working with the Chemistry and Life Sciences groups. His experience includes auditing under various regulatory standards such as GLP, GMP and National Toxicology Program requirements and assisting in the establishment and auditing of several quality systems including ISO 9001/CP2. He holds two Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and has completed postgraduate course work toward an MBA. He takes this new role during a time when the QAU is increasing staff to keep pace with the expanding Life Sciences workload. With the transition of the EPA/ESAT lab operations to IITRI, Parikh has managed the setup and maintenance of the IITRI QAU at the ESAT laboratory in Chicago.
Life Sciences Chief Receives Tenure from IIT Dr. David L. McCormick, vice president and director of IITRI's Life Sciences Group, has been approved by the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) faculty to become the tenured IITRI Professor of Biology in the Biology, Chemistry and Physical Science Department. He will continue his role as director for IITRI's Life Sciences Group. Dr. McCormick has been with IITRI for more than 22 years. He has a Ph.D. in Environmental Medicine/ Biology from New York University. His primary research activities are in the areas of experimental toxicology, pharmacology and carcinogenesis. Dr. McCormick has published more than 180 research papers, abstracts, reviews and book chapters in these areas. He has been the principal investigator on multiple grants and contracts with the National Cancer Institute, where he has focused on research on the preclinical toxicology and pharmacology of cancer chemoprevention and cancer chemotherapeutic drugs.
