Inhalation Toxicology IITRI's Inhalation Toxicology Division has been demonstrating successes in applied and mechanistic inhalation toxicology for over 40 years. What distinguishes IITRI is our expertise in conducting nose-only and whole-body exposures, and our ability to generate well-controlled test atmospheres of single and multi-component gases, vapors, and aerosols of liquid, solid particulate or suspension. IITRI's superior inhalation toxicology engineering capabilities have supported many industrial and governmental sponsors in their testing with a uniquely engineered inhalation exposure system. The Inhalation Toxicology Division provides sponsors with toxicological and pathologic endpoint evaluations in a variety of animal models to meet the testing requirements of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and European Economic Community (EEC). Our scientists conduct specialized evaluations for pulmonary function, respiratory sensitization and pulmonary lavage assessment, as well as developmental and reproductive toxicity endpoints. The division also has state-of-the-art analytical capabilities for monitoring test atmospheres. Our facility conforms to the requirements of the National Toxicology Program (NTP/NIEHS) for the conduct of inhalation toxicology studies. Areas of Expertise Include: Exposure Atmosphere
