Toxicology and Carcinogenesis

As a laboratory with many years of broadly based experience in the performance of in vitro and in vivo toxicology studies, IITRI is highly qualified to execute safety and cancer research programs. Such studies conducted at IITRI have involved oral (gavage and diet), injection, dermal, inhalation (nose-only, whole-body, and metered dose inhaler), and implantation routes of exposure.

Active programs involve nonclinical toxicology studies of a wide range of agents in rodent, canine, and primate model systems. Programs often include both in vivo safety assessments of new drug entities, as well as studies to characterize the efficacy, bioavailability and/or pharmacokinetics of the agent being investigated. This thorough methodology enables customers to select and optimize lead drug candidates in the early stages of development.
